Employees are always friendly and the food is always amazing! I have been here 3 times and every time I have came, the restaurant was very clean. The food is always good, they have the best mac n cheese and bread rolls! They also have complimentary soft serve icecream and kids 12 & under eat free every Sunday! It is a bit pricey but it's worth it! You definitely get your money's worth.

Ok, I've got a few gripes about this place, and seriously I will try and be constructive in my overall assessment. Background: Spent 13 years in Austin, Texas so I am very familiar with how Texas Brisket is supposed to be prepared. I have also studied many years of preparing a proper Texas brisket style.
Pro's:
The food has the ability of being very good
Okra
Multiple Texas style food staples.
Con's:
Where to start... When I moved back to California 3.5 years ago I stopped in Dickey's in Sunnyvale, CA (Closed now) and had some brisket. They used to use very expensive Convex style blades (impressive), but even back then they were dull as they have a professional sharpener come in once every few days apparently to sharpen the blades. Due to the amount of times the blade was used it would get dull over time. Note (this is normal) but to cut a proper brisket one needs to have a razor sharp blade. Brisket is a very tough meat from the Cow and takes a seriously long time to cook, but when it is cooked proper the meat is very very soft and pulls apart easy. Hence a sharp blade is needed to cut the meat properly to prevent it from falling apart. They did their best a few years back and it still cut fairly well back then.
NOTE: Brisket is ALWAYS meant to be cut at a cross section from the grain.
This keeps the brisket:
1) Hot longer
2) keeps juices in the meat a lot longer.
3) changes the flavor and taste of the meat to a taste that is standard for all types of brisket
4) does not get stuck in one's teeth as easily
5) presents the meat in a proper aspect one typical of any style of brisket.
Dickey's has shut down many places since I moved back to California but apparently that is not the only thing that changed.
They have replaced the fine cutlery they used with hollow ground cutting blades which are much cheaper, stay sharp a lot less, and in the end are basically throwaway after a certain period of time.
They no longer cut brisket the proper way. Its almost as if they no longer train people to properly serve brisket. I had a woman that was working behind the counter a few weeks ago, and a guy today cut me some brisket. Yes, granted she cut it off the main piece, but after that she literally picked up the cut piece and started pulling it apart from the grain right in front of me. It was so bad that I had to literally bring it back and have her re-cut the brisket properly. I did not order pulled brisket. I ordered sliced brisket and brisket is ALWAYS cut against the grain.
People might say why does it matter? Please recap above. Also if you walk into the store you will see posters and wall paper representing this place as Texas barbecue. Texans don't cut brisket that way EVER! The sad part is that either the people working there just didn't care about representing the food they were representing, or they were not trained properly on how to serve Texas style brisket.
When people come into a BBQ place that is supposed to represent something specific, they expect it to be represented properly. I am a Californian through and through and when I was in Texas I used to get upset about stores or shops improperly represented California. I will do the exact same here for the Texans. I am not a Texan but have respected enough of Texas BBQ to know when it is done right and when it is not. This is absolutely sad as when I first came back it was about 20% not accurate, and now it is closer to 80%.
Dickey's represents a very important part of Texas culture which is specifically Sausage and Brisket. If they cannot at least prepare it properly, should it still be construed as Texas Brisket? Maybe they should just call it a substandard lazy California version of Texas Brisket. Look, I love California and most of what it stands for, however, this is insulting for anyone to experience that has had properly prepared Brisket regardless of whether it is Texas style, Jewish, or any other form of cooking. Google pictures of sliced brisket and compare it to what Dickey's serves. I spent over $41.00 on (2) 2 meat plates from Dickey's for me and my Texas born and bred wife. I expect it to be what they represent. This is not Texan. Heck, I dont even know what it is as no state that preports to specialize in BBQ cuts their meat like this.
When this was served to my wife it was served COLD! Literally it came warm and barely at that. To the point where my wife brought it back and they re-cut it. Yeah, the guy used a knife cutting it again, NOT crosscut against the grain. What is going on! The lady I spoke to about it 3 weeks ago I had to have her recut it 3 times before she got it. Anyway, they leave the doors open for the Sausage as well as brisket and it dries out. On top of not cutting properly and letting the juice run out of the brisket it was just not good.
The sausage was not cooked all the way either. Nor the middle of the bread. -

I signed up for their birthday club and got a coupon for a free sandwich. The beef sandwich itself was good. I dined in so I had all access to the barbecue sauces. I like that they serve the sauces warm. Make sure you grab some if your order is to go. There was some smokiness to the flavor of the meat, which is mostly what I look for. The cheese on the beef sandwich was not good, it didn't melt. It was kinda rubbery. The mac and cheese was kinda meh. I don't mind super artificial mac and cheese, but it was just okay. Sign up for their email club if you are going to come here often.
